A few times a year droves of ladybugs from around the world (I assume) congregate on my windowsills. It is lovely but also disconcerting, and they definitely plan it to coincide with finals. One possible explanation is that they come here to die, because they either can’t figure out how to get out or seek out windowsills once they’ve had enough with this life. Every few minutes I get up and collect and free a few of them, because if I don’t it’ll change from a whimsical to grim, perhaps an omen having to do with my unfinished final papers. Tis one of my favorite times of the year.
